From September 15 to 17, 2026, SIMAC Tanning Tech brought together suppliers of machinery, components and chemical products for the footwear, leather goods and tanning industries at Fiera Milano Rho. Organized by Assomac, the trade show takes place at the same time as Lineapelle: on one side, raw materials; on the other, the means to process them. We were on the latter side.

At the booth, one question came up with every visit: “How can I move away from solvent-based products without losing production speed?” The answer lay in the samples:

• water-based adhesives for leather goods, including the DIS PREN F04+ dual-process adhesive with color indicator;
• water-based release agents for single- and dual-density PU soles;
• leather finishing products, including 4000/1 edge finishing gum and Protect & Care 4001 waterproofing product.

One year after celebrating Keck Chimie’s 125th anniversary at SIMAC 2025, the common thread remains the same: an innovation is tested in the workshop before being showcased at a trade show. Milan wrapped up, and we packed our bags again.

Foam Expo Europe takes place from November 10 to 12, 2026, at the L-Bank Forum at Messe Stuttgart, bringing together the entire technical foam supply chain, from PU blocks to finished mattresses. Organized by Smarter Shows, the trade show is aimed at manufacturers and processors of flexible and rigid foams for bedding, seating, construction and sports applications. Do you manufacture mattresses, seats or panels? Three topics await you:

• the 765/22 adhesive designed for the mattress industry and high-initial-tack water-based adhesives for PU, EVA and viscoelastic foams;
• the 8670/31 release agent for flexible foams, containing approximately 79.8% water and 10% solvents;
• 1701/129 release agent for recycled foams and 1701/105 for polyurethane sandwich panels.

For a quick overview, here are the three events side by side:

A useful test starts with three pieces of information: the material to be released or bonded, your mold temperature, and your production line speed. With this information, the technical team in Ingwiller, in the Bas-Rhin department, prepares the sample before you arrive at the trade show. You leave with a technical data sheet, an SDS, and initial application parameters.

For a water-based release agent on PU soles, the published settings provide a starting point:

• 0.3 mm nozzle, air pressure of 3 to 4 bar, material pressure of 0.2 bar;
• molds at approximately 50 °C;
• spray distance of 20 to 30 cm for a matte, uniform “dry grip” finish.

The rest is adjusted on your production line, using your molds and your operators. A trade show kicks off the conversation; the workshop wraps it up.

What is the difference between SIMAC Tanning Tech and Lineapelle?

SIMAC Tanning Tech showcases machinery and chemical solutions, while Lineapelle showcases materials. Both trade shows take place at the same time at Fiera Milano Rho. A leather goods manufacturer can spend the morning with the tanners at Lineapelle and the afternoon with us, selecting the adhesive to match the leather they have just chosen.

Can a water-based release agent keep up with a safety footwear production line?

Yes, 1502/353 is formulated for PU injection molding of safety footwear. For 1702/44, published consumption is 1 to 2 grams per pair, with a very dry finish. Production speed must be verified on your line, not ours: that’s precisely the point of a trial under real production conditions.

Which foams can your water-based adhesives bond?

Our water-based adhesives bond PU, EVA and viscoelastic foams, with high initial tack. 765/22 is intended for the mattress industry. For a foam-and-fabric or foam-and-wood sandwich, bring both materials to Stuttgart: the adhesive is selected for the combination, not just one side.
